Radon is a problem in Wyoming, to educate children on it the Wyoming Department of Health decided to have a poster contest for the kids to raise awareness on radon, according to KGWN.

Students from third grade to ninth grade are allowed to enter this contest. Entries will be split up into two groups, one group will be third grade through sixth grade and seventh grade through ninth grade. Each group will have two winners and they will receive prizes, and the students who came in first will receive a FitBit and a Wyoming State Parks pass. Second place will receive a parks pass as well. Just for participating, all students will receive a free radon test coupon.

The posters have to be comprised of one of these ideas:

  • What is radon?
  • Where does radon come from?
  • How does radon get into our homes?
  • Radon can cause lung cancer.
  • Test your home for radon.

Radon is one of those silent killers, it is invisible, odorless and tasteless. Make sure you check and keep your family safe.

The deadline for the posters is May 10th. For more information go to wyomingradon.org.

You can mail your posters to WY Radon Poster Contest, Aaron Fegenbush, Wyoming Cancer Program, 6101 Yellowstone Road, Suite 510, Cheyenne, WY 82002.
