A slice of Union Pacific railroading is coming to Cheyenne on May 8th

Get ready for UP Big Boy 4014 to rumble into Cheyenne shaking the ground and blowing off steam as a thundering 6300 horsepower steam engine rocks Wyoming. 4014 is coming home from California for some restoration here in Cheyenne.

May 8th it arrives after a trip through California, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming. 4014 will be in Laramie on May 7th and here the next day. 4014 is one of 25 locomotives built to tackle one of railroads highest elevations, Sherman Hill between Laramie and Cheyenne on The Union Pacific. They were the largest steam locomotives ever built.

I will be on hand with camera to greet 4014 with video and pictures next Thursday.
