On The Simpsons, he has been the voice of Mr. Burns, Smithers, Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner, Otto the bus driver, Reverend Lovejoy, Kent Brockman, Lenny and many others... up until now.  Yesterday, voice actor Harry Shearer announced that he will not be returning to The Simpsons next season with the rest of the cast.

Offered the same contract as the others, Harry ends his relationship of 26 years with one of the longest running scripted shows on television. He is declining the offer, despite an offer from Fox for a 27th and 28th season. On Twitter, @theharryshearer, he wrote “This because I wanted what we've always had: the freedom to do other work.”

The show will go on with other actors voicing the characters, but how man will it take.

Hey Harry, sad to see you go, but thanks for your great work and This Is Spinal Tap as well.
