Drivers in downtown Cheyenne should expect detours around the Carey Building over the next several weeks while crews work to demolish the structure.

Beginning Monday, Carey Avenue between 17th Street and 18th Street will be closed for approximately four to six weeks.

Drivers will still be able to use 17th and pedestrians will be able to use the sidewalk on the east side of Carey between 17th and 18th.  The sidewalk on the west side of the block will remain open north of the alleyway.

The long-blighted Carey Building is being torn down to make way for the city's new municipal courthouse.
