The Laramie County Sheriff’s Department is asking the public’s assistance in locating a missing Cheyenne man.

A district court judge plans to issue a written decision on the state of Wyoming’s request to dismiss a media lawsuit challenging the closure of court proceedings for a man accused of kidnapping and sexually abusing a Glenrock Girl. Wyoming Secretary of State Max Maxfield is urging Wyoming residents to uphold the state’s tradition for high voter turnout by registering and voting in the primary election on August 21.

Governor Matt Mead told the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that Wyoming should have primacy in regulating regional haze. In a letter commenting on the EPA’s disapproval of part of Wyoming’s State Implementation Plan (SIP),  Governor Mead said that the federal plan would be more costly and without any apparent benefit over the state plan.

Continued dry conditions and a potential for increased fire activity have prompted Yellowstone officials to implement fire restrictions and close some hiking trails. Doug Randall has the story. Cheyenne City Councilwoman Amber Ash says even though she’s heard a fair amount of criticism of the city’s new Unified Development Code from businesses and developers who say it increases their costs, other council members apparently haven’t–and as a result, there is little support on the council to repeal the code, which took effect in April.
