Chase Ends in Cheyenne After Officers Shoot Suspected Car Thief

A man was taken to the hospital after exchanging gunfire with officers during a pursuit that ended in east Cheyenne Friday evening.

Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeremy Beck says troopers spotted the man in a stolen vehicle and tried to stop him, but he took off.

Police were called in to assist, and the man eventually crashed near the Cheyenne VA Medical Center around 6:30 p.m.

Police say the man suffered two gunshot wounds and was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.  His condition is unknown.

Fortunately, no officers were injured during the incident.

As is the case in all officer-involved shootings, the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the case.
