Cheyenne shattered snowfall records this week.

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne says five inches of snow fell Monday night, breaking the previous May 20 record of 0.8 inches set in 2001.

Tuesday (May 21) was also a record-setting day for snowfall in Cheyenne. A record snowfall of three and a half inches was set at the airport. This breaks the old record of 3 inches set in 1891.

Cheyenne could also beat the max two-day snowfall for the period of May 20 through June 30 of 8.7 inches, which was set on June 12, 1947.

Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories were in effect for much of eastern Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle Monday and Tuesday as a system brought cold and snow to the region.
