Cheyenne East had it all together in girl's basketball in 2020-21 with just 2 losses and 20 wins on the season. Their last victory of the year was a 52-37 win over Cody in the 4A title contest. The Thunderbirds were dominant in that game as they outscored Cody 12-3 in the first quarter and in point in the game, led by as many as 19. To start the state tournament, Cheyenne East knocked off Star Valley 42-30 as the T-Birds outscored the Braves by 12 in the 2nd half. Liljedahl had 19 as East shot 52% from the field in the 2nd half. In the 4A semi-finals, East posted a 62-50 win over Green Rover with Liljedahl leading the way again with 18 points as she made 10-11 from the free-throw line. Plus East had just 9 turnovers in the game,

Liljedahl was super for the Thunderbirds this past season as the sophomore averaged 14 points a game. She's a smart, dynamic player with a very bright future. Freshman point guard Bradie Schlabs was named all-state as well throwing in 8 points a game. Senior Emma Jacobson, who also averaged 8 points a game was another all-state pick for this team. Cheyenna Alvarado averaged 8 points per contest and was named all-conference in her senior year.

This program has posted 9 straight winning seasons with three state championships in the last 11 years. The team does lose 6 seniors but will have two all-state selections returning for 2021-22. They should be tough next season. Take a look at the video we have about the Thunderbirds from the state tournament. Enjoy!
