Cheyenne Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase, Foot Pursuit
A 37-year-old Cheyenne man is behind bars after police say he led them on a high-speed chase and foot pursuit.
Public Information Officer Alex Farkas says it all started around 2:15 a.m. Thursday when an officer tried to stop a speeding Jeep with stolen license plates near E. Nationway and E. 12th Street and the driver, Danny Jimenez, failed to stop, leading the officer on a high-speed chase on E. 12th Street.
"The pursuit continued through east Cheyenne to the intersection of E. 6th Street, where the officer lost sight of the vehicle," Farkas said in a news release.
"A short time later, another officer in the area located the Jeep near E. 12th Street," she added. "A third officer assisted by successfully deploying spike strips to deflate the Jeep’s tires."
But that didn't stop Jimenez. Farkas says he continued to flee for several miles toward E. Lincolnway, driving on the rims.
"A Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper joined in the pursuit and performed a tactical vehicle intervention which stopped the suspect vehicle along the side of E. Lincolnway," said Farkas.
"Jimenez then exited the vehicle and fled from officers on foot," she added. "He was located and taken into custody without incident."
Farkas says Jimenez was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for evaluation and then booked into the Laramie County jail on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine, DUI, driving with a suspended license, fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, and theft of over $1,000.
