A 36-year-old Cheyenne man has been sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for simple possession of methamphetamine and felon and unlawful user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm.

Eric J. Ream, Jr. was arrested on May 13 after police responding to a suspicious circumstance at the My Place Hotel in Cheyenne saw him get out of a stolen SUV and into another vehicle.

When officers confronted Ream about the SUV, he became uncooperative and they had to take him to the ground.

Police searched the SUV, which returned stolen out of Fort Collins, and found 50.6 grams of methamphetamine inside.

They also determined that Ream had four prior convictions for possession of a controlled substance -- one in October 2003, one in March 2006 and two in November 2010.

Ream will be on supervised release for three years once he's released from prison.
