Cheyenne Police Investigating Armed Robbery at Gas Station [PHOTOS]
Cheyenne police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who robbed a Cheyenne gas station at gunpoint this (Wednesday) morning.
Officer Kevin Malatesta says police were called to the Big D Exxon at 3030 E. Lincolnway around 5:50 a.m.
"When officers responded they found the suspect had already left," said Malatesta. "He came in, demanded money from the clerk, displayed a firearm and was successful in taking money."
Malatesta says the man had his face covered during most of the robbery and was wearing white-framed sunglasses, a dark blue hoodie and black pants.
"He was described by the clerk as being a white male, approximately 5’8” with light brown eyes," said Malatesta. "The photos that we have show him being a little darker skinned, so he may be Hispanic or a dark-skinned white male."
Anyone who recognizes the man or knows his whereabouts is asked to call the Laramie County Dispatch Center at (307) 637-6525.
"It doesn't appear that this is related to that Dollar Tree robbery, however we have seen several robberies over the last couple of months," said Malatesta.
"We'd encourage people to be vigilante," he added. "If they see this kind of thing happening get a good description of the suspect, especially the vehicle they may be driving, in order to help us stop this trend."
