Cheyenne Schools Foundation Approves $22,000 In Grants
The Cheyenne Schools Foundation has approved grants totaling 22,591.64 for Laramie County School District#1 educational programs.
That total includes five Excellence in Education Grants (maximum of $3000 each) and nine Student Enrichment Grants (maximum of $1000 each).
Among the Excellence in Education Grants are $3000 for the Unpacking Literacy Program at Hebard Elementary School. This program puts high-interest books in the hands of students and their families. Students take home backpacks filled with books, puzzles and other activities around various themes--for example sea animals or fairy tales
Other Excellence in Education Grants went to the Advanced Placement Physics and Chemistry program at Central High School, the "Prints of Wild Readers Program" at Saddle Ridge Elementary School, the purchase of Kindle Fire HD's to promote literacy at Bain Elementary, and the ''One School, One Book" program at Fairview.
Nine other grants were issues to a variety of local schools through the Student Enrichment Program, ranging from a program on Micromolecules at South High School to a Revolutionary War re-enactment at Goins Elementary School.
