LARAMIE – The University of Wyoming’s Department of Geology and Geophysics is ranked No. 1 in the nation on College Factual’s “2019 Best Geological and Earth Sciences Colleges for the Money” list.

The department tops College Factual’s “2019 Best Geological and Earth Sciences Colleges for the Money” rankings in a new “best value” list.

College Factual, an online service that helps “every student get their best-fit education for less,” notes that the annual salary for UW geology graduates, on average, is $49,000 in their early careers, growing to $76,000 mid-career.

The rankings also take into account the average time students take to graduate, as well as the quality the school provides and the average yearly cost of attendance.

The Department of Geology and Geophysics joins UW’s departments of Communication and Journalism, English and History in earning recognition for being among the top programs in the nation, respectively ranked No. 8, No. 17 and No. 4. UW as a whole ranks No. 10 on College Factual’s list of “Best Colleges for the Money.”
