An Evans, Colorado woman could face up to 10 years in prison after allegedly chasing her friend with a knife and threatening to kill her.

Court records say authorities were called to Lydia Soto's south Cheyenne home on July 21 after her friend, 34-year-old Silvia Juan-Juan, reportedly threatened her with a knife.

Soto told authorities that Juan-Juan -- who'd signed the power of attorney for her children over to Soto a few years ago when they lived in Colorado -- smelled of alcohol and was acting crazy when she showed up at her house.

Because Juan-Juan was irate, Soto sent one of the children to a neighbor's house and made the other children lock themselves in a bedroom.

That's when Juan-Juan reportedly grabbed a 12-inch kitchen knife and began chasing Soto around the kitchen with it, repeatedly telling Soto she was going to "kill" her.

Soto said she tried to call 911, but Juan-Juan grabbed her cell phone and threw it on the ground.

Juan-Juan was subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery-threatens with weapon, interference with an emergency call and misdemeanor property destruction.

Juan-Juan is currently being held in the Laramie County jail on a $5,000 cash bond. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 31 at 9 a.m.
