The Wyoming Cowboys Football program added one signee to its 2018 recruiting class during national signing day Wednesday.

The Pokes signed defensive tackle Mario Mora from Charter Oak High School in Covina, CA. Mora is 6-3 and 255 pounds. He finished his high school career with 97 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, nine sacks and 19 quarterback hurries.

In his senior season of 2017, Mora had 43 tackles with 21 solo stops. He also had eight tackles for loss, two sacks and nine quarterback hurries. Mora recovered one fumble and scored on that play. He led Charter Oak to a 12-1 record and a semifinal appearance in the 2017 CIF Southern Section Division 3 Playoffs.

Wyoming beat out five other Mountain West schools for Mora. He had offers from Air Force, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada and San Jose State.

Mora joins 20 other signees in this class, who signed back on Dec. 20, 2017, and is the 10th from the state of California.

In addition, UW announced 14 walk-ons with the likelihood of five more to come according to Director of Recruiting Gordie Haug. At least six of those walk-ons are from the state of Wyoming.

The 22nd member of the 2018 recruiting class will be running back Theo Dawson from Jackson. He originally signed with the Cowboys in 2016, but went on a two-year Mormon mission and will join UW in the fall. He counts towards this year’s recruiting class.
