The Larimer Humane Society has a new resident...and it's David Bowie.

Unfortunately, the late rockstar has not resurrected himself at our local animal shelter. This new resident is a chicken, but he does share the singer's name — and his iconic hair.

David Bowie, a five-month-old male chicken, is available for adoption. The shelter has waived his adoption fee, meaning that you could take this funky little bird home for free.

However, there are some things you should know about him.

According to shelter manager Brett DeWester, David Bowie came to the Larimer Humane Society because his original owner wasn't allowed to have roosters where they live (this includes Fort Collins). Thankfully, the owner gave him lots of love, so he is good with children and okay with being held.

He's also good with other chickens — as long as they're nice to him.

"When we tried to pair him up with some other roosters, they picked on him, but he was not the aggressor. He wanted to just get away from them and hide, so we quickly gave him his own enclosure," DeWester told Townsquare NoCo. "I think there is a good chance he might do nice with other chickens, as long as they aren't aggressive towards him. He is a sweet guy and needs a good home."

I guess you could say he's not a...Rebel Rebel (I'll show myself out).

The Larimer Humane Society is currently open for adoptions between 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. Next week, their hours will shift to 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
