According to their biography, the name Wyoming was inspired by a scene in the movie Star Trek: The Motion Picture, which was filmed in Yellowstone National Park.

Founded in 2012, the group has released two full-length albums "Fountain" and "Moon Jaunt".

They recently added a new instrument to the group, a stage bench which doubles as a mixing console.
