Do you remember what Walt Disney World Resort was like back in 2002? Allow us to take you on a journey to discover what the prices were like at The Most Magical Place on Earth 20 years ago.

The minimum wage back in 2002 in the United States was on average $5.15 per hour while in 2022 it is approximately $7.25. So what would a 4-day trip staying on a moderate Disney resort property look like for a family of four 20 years ago compared to today's prices?

According to All Ears, a single day single theme park admission adult ticket cost between $48 and $50 while a child between the ages of 3-9 cost $38.00-$40.00 back in 2002. For a 4-day Park Hopper option, an adult ticket cost $192.00-$199.00 while a child would have run you $152.00-$159.00.

Back in 2005, a stay at one of the Port Orleans Moderate Resorts would cost a person $134 during a value time, $149 regular time, $169 at peak time and $184 during the holidays. Due to inflation, it's easy to assume that during a normal time a stay at the Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter would cost a person approximately $129.

Excluding tax, a 4-night stay at one of the moderate Port Orleans hotels would have cost a person $516. 2 4-day Park Hopper adult tickets and 2 child tickets would bring you to a total of $696 (pending the time of year). In total, a 4-day Park Hopper moderate resort vacation at Disney World in 2002 would have cost a family of four $1,212.

Meanwhile, Mice Chat reported that in 2003 the All-Star Resort cost a person $77 a night while the deluxe Polynesian Resort room cost $299 a night.

Today, the four tickets would total $2,000.40 and the hotel stay would cost $1,196. The same 4-night vacation at Port Orleans with park hoppers for a family of four would cost a total of $3,196.40 in 2022. The exact same vacation 20 years ago is more than double what it would cost today.

It is important to note that both theme park ticket prices and hotel prices do fluctuate depending on the date, season, holidays and events. The data below does not include any coupons or discounts. The most recent price increase for the Walt Disney World Resort was reportedly in March 2019.
