Eric Idle and John Popper Celebrate Birthdays March 29 [VIDEO]

Eric Idle from Monty Python's Flying Circus and John Popper, singer and harmonica player for Blues Traveler, were both born on a March 29th.

British-born Idle wrote for and performed with Monty Python since their formation in 1969 at the University of Cambridge. Some of his most well known bits were the "Nudge Nudge" skit from their TV show and singing "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" at the end of The Life of Brian movie.

Idle has written several books including Hello Sailor and The Road to Mars. Along with Neil Innes he created The Rutles, a Beatles parody group. In 2004 he created the musical comedy Spamalot based on the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Eric Idle was also the voice of Merlin in the movie Shrek The Third.

John Popper was born on March 29, 1967 in Cleveland. He originally wanted to become a comedian but discovered the harmonica when he and a friend were doing a Blues Brothers routine.

Along with being the lead singer and harmonica player for Blues Traveler he's played on songs with The Spin Doctors, the Allman Brothers and the Grateful Dead and many others. He plays on the Dave Matthews Band's "What Would You Say."

Popper formed the John Popper Project with DJ Logic and in March 2011 his latest group John Popper & The Duskray Troubadours released their debut album of American roots music.

On the Fourth of July Blues Traveler will be back for their annual Independence Day concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater along with Toad The Wet Sprocket, a group who took their name from a Monty Python's Flying Circus sketch.
