Ranching helped establish Wyoming and ranchers want everyone to know that beef comes from animals, not from cells grown indoors from plants or insects, and should be labeled appropriately.

So that there is no confusion in restaurants or markets, the Cattlemen’s Association has petitioned the USDA to define beef and meat as the product of cattle born, raised, and slaughtered in the traditional manner.

Two of the largest U.S. food processors have already invested in companies that will grow plant-based proteins i.e. 'clean meat' from animal cells and are getting closer to market. Also threatening the cattle industry, people who are “reducing their consumption of meat-based products.”

Cattle Ranchers have been threatened by banks, big business, special interest groups, Mother Nature, and numerous situations for a long time, but now, ‘fake meat’ could present a threat to a traditional way of life in Wyoming.
