Game & Fish Imposes Partial Fire Ban in Goshen, Albany Counties
Affected areas include Springer, Table Mountain and Rawhide Wildlife Habitat Management Areas as well as Packers Lake and North Platte River Public Access Areas in Goshen County, and Forbes/Sheep Mountain, Jelm, Laramie Peak, Tom Thorne Williams/Beth Williams Wildlife Habitat Management Areas and Wheatland Reservoir 3 Public Access Area in Albany County.
The Laramie Plains Lakes, including Lake Hattie, Twin Buttes Reservoir, Galett Lake, Meeboer Lake and Leazenby Lake Public Access Area, are also under the ban.
Under a partial ban, it's okay to have contained campfires and grill out. Welding, using a cutting torch and smoking must be done in a cleared area of at least ten feet in radius and combustion engines, including ATVs and motorcycles, must have approved spark arrestors.
The WGFD says the fire danger will be monitored on a weekly basis and the ban will be lifted when conditions improve.
