Wyoming Highway 130 over the Snowy Range has opened just in time for the holiday weekend.

WYDOT crews opened the gates Thursday afternoon.

According to a WDOT press release, crews from Laramie and Saratoga have been working for weeks to clear WYO 130 from both sides of the Snowy Range. After they completed removal, last week’s snowstorm added more work.

Travelers are urged to be cautious with changing road conditions. Watch out for wet areas due to runoff and combined with cold nights could lead to frozen patches before the sun dries the road surface as the day goes along. WYDOT is also warning travelers that to be on the lookout for possible closures due to winter-like weather, such as last week’s storm, even though the road is open.

WYO 130 also opened on May 25 last year. It’s one of several high-elevation mountain roads across Wyoming that have a seasonal closure. It was closed for the winter season last Nov. 28.

WYO 70 over Battle Pass remains closed. Crews will now turn their attention to getting that road open.
