As most of you know Highway 130, over the Snowy Range, is closed for a good part of the year because of snow.

One does not simply open that stretch of road. If WYDOT waited for the snow to melt naturally it would be closed for all but maybe a month out of the year. Some years it would never open at all.

Some years the snow on the road is up over 10 feet high.

It takes big equipment to open the Snowy Range. It's rather impressive to watch it done. Here is a video from back in 2018 of WYDOT at work, moving hundreds of tons of snow, literally.
