I-25 Set To Close Twice In The Next Week Near Fort Collins
One of the first things I learned when moving to Northern Colorado is to avoid I-25 if at all possible, at least if you'd like to keep your blood pressure from rising 10 points when going from point A to point B. I've had to heed that reminder several times over the past couple of years and this weekend will need to be another time when that happens.
There will be two full closures of the freeway, the first coming between Colorado Highway 392 and Harmony Road from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday and from 9 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday.
Southbound I-25 traffic will be required to exit at Harmony Road and northbound traffic at Colorado Highway 392. Detour signs will direct drivers east to Colorado Highway 257 and then back to I-25 at Colorado 392 and Harmony Road on-ramps.
There is going to be work done on the new Kechter Road bridge. Speaking of which, Kechter Road, which has been closed since Oct. 1 is on target to open back up on May 10 , fingers and toes crossed.
The second closure is going to be in the infamous I-25/US34 interchange where new signs will be put up.
That's going to require closing I-25 between U.S. 34 and Colorado Highway 402 from 9 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday and from 9 p.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday.
I've only working on year two of dealing with this and see this as a royal pain, but the good news is that the end is in sight, kind of. The express lanes project is expected to be completed by Spring 2024.
