Buffalo Bills Sign A New Quarterback
Even though the Buffalo Bills scraped by with a 9-3 preseason win against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday night, they didn’t come out of it unscathed.
Injuries have been plaguing the Bills since training camp wrapped up a couple of weeks ago, and it understandably makes fans nervous. The Bills suffered a huge blow when Matt Milano, who spent the majority of last season rehabbing a broken leg, tore his bicep in practice and was put on injured reserve indefinitely.
The list grew even longer after Saturday’s matchup, after Mitch Trubisky, who started at QB after Josh Allen was sidelined due to the slick turf conditions, exited the game due to a knee injury.

The startling amount of players getting hurt led head coach Sean McDermott to make the decision to sit his starters out for the final preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.
“Initially the plan was to play the ones this week, but because of the injuries and the lack of availability, we’re going to take the ones out, play the other guys, take a good look at them.” - Sean McDermott
With Trubisky out, the Bills were in desperate need of a backup QB for Allen, and it looks like they’ve made steps to fill that void.
Buffalo Bills Sign QB Anthony Brown Jr.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Bills have signed former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Anthony Brown Jr. to help fill the spot of the injured Mitch Trubisky.
Brown, who spent a brief time active with the Ravens, made two appearances on the field in the 2022-23 season in place of injured quarterbacks Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley, throwing a total of 302 yards. He was released by the Ravens later that year, and signed with the Las Vegas Raiders this past January. Brown was released from the Raiders in August, leaving him available for the Bills to grab.
Here’s hoping the preseason Bills squad can make it through this last game healthy– they really can’t afford to lose anyone else.
