LARAMIE -- Christian Taylor is about as laidback as they come.

But even his patience is starting to wear thin.

Wyoming's new offensive coordinator, a young, gifted play-caller, was brought here with one mission in mind: Score points. That, as you are well aware, is not happening. The Cowboys net just 14.2 per game, ranking 135th in the nation out of 138 FBS programs.

North Dakota State rolled to an easy 28-0 victory last Saturday inside a sold-out Fargodome. It was the first time a UW team has been shutout since falling 30-0 to Fresno State in the 2022 season finale.

If you remember that one, you'd know that the Cowboys limped into California's Central Valley after losing a heartbreaker at home to Boise State. That setback knocked them out of contention for the Mountain West crown. That one was all about pride.

It obviously didn't go well.

All last week the Wyoming-NDSU tilt was built up as the new, hot conference rivalry. A traveling trophy was even introduced into what was billed as the "Battle of the Bains." The Cowboys were coming off an impressive 27-10 win over Hawaii and it appeared some wrongs had been righted.

They weren't.

Taylor's offense managed just 162 yards in Fargo. That included only eight first downs and a miserable 2-for-11 on third down. They also turned the ball over on downs twice, once inside the Bison 5-yard line.

It was ugly.

So, that begs the question: Where do the Cowboys go from here?
