Being able to adjust on the fly is something many people have a hard time dealing with, especially if it's something you do every year. This winter, if you're one of those folks that enjoys hitting the groomed trails in the northern part of Wyoming's Snowy Range, it's time to start adjusting.

A press release has been issued from the US Forest Service, stating that due to winter timber hauling, there are quite a few snowmobile trails that will be closed for the season.

The short-term trail closures are needed for plowing and timber sale hauling to safely occur along winter routes. Both groomed and ungroomed snowmobile trails located on Forest roads will be impacted. Logging trucks and snow removal equipment will be using the temporarily closed trails.

The closures will mitigate the hazard of snow machines running at high rates of speed with limited sight distances on the same snow and ice packed mountain roads as loaded log trucks.

The impacted snowmobile trails are on the Brush Creek/Hayden Ranger District (BCH), Medicine Bow National Forest. Groomed trails that will be closed include the entirety of the ‘M’ trail, as well as portions of the ‘K’ and ‘N’ trails. Ungroomed trails that will be closed include portions of ‘MC’, ‘O’, and ‘Y’ trails. Associated National Forest System Roads include the 100, 101, 111, 120, and 261 Roads.

All or portions of the haul routes will be plowed for the duration of the closure. No public motorized access will be allowed along the temporarily closed routes. All other areas and trails normally open to over-the-snow travel will remain open.

Wyoming has over 2,585 miles of trails for snowmobiling, so finding another set of trails to have some wintertime fun on, shouldn't be hard.
