I'm not one of those guys that wants, or usually needs, a life coach or cheerleader patting my back. With that being said, at the end 2023, I decided I was going to go take a live-in-the-moment stance in 2024. If I want to do it, do it. I I want to go, go.

Honestly, that's kind of how I've been living my life for years, but THIS year is going to be different.

I want to have a better outlook and be a positive figure for people to look up to and be there, if needed, for moral support. So, I did what most people would do, I went to social media and started following people I thought would inspire me.

Never in a million years did I think one of those people would be the Governator...yep...body builder, turned actor, turned politician, turned an ambassador of positive thinking, Arnold Schwarzenegger!

Sure enough, this guy is always going to be the coolest cat in the room and just radiates positivity. Thinking back over the years, outside of a few dark moments, he was always encouraging everyone, talking people up and inspiring them to do better.

Then I found Arnold's Pump Club, a website, podcast and newsletter, doing nothing but encouraging people to be positive, do-good things and take care of their mental health.

Well crap, that's exactly what I was looking for. I guess the Terminator, Commando, and Kindergarten Cop, is going to by my inspiration to inspire.

When I started following Arnold, I signed up for his daily newsletter. In this newsletter, he gives you encouraging words, studies, tips and workout ideas. One of the things I saw in a recent edition, was titled 'The 10 Minute Brain Boost'.

Arnold wrote about a study that says a 10-minute break every few hours can do a lot for your mind, body and soul. This is part of the newsletter and thoughts from the man himself.

A recent study found that a 10-minute break every few hours increases work productivity, helps you push through brain fog, reduces mental fatigue, and boosts creativity.

That’s because innovative thoughts are usually sparked when you let your mind wander. It’s why some people have some of their best thoughts in the shower or during a good workout.

It’s easy to get caught up in working longer hours, but you’ll likely find that a few strategic breaks throughout the day can give your mind the jolt you need to do more and burn out less.

But here’s the catch: avoid scrolling your social feed if you want the brain-boosting benefits. That activity is more mentally draining.

Instead, get outside, find something funny (YouTube could become your best friend), read a book, listen to music you love, and do a hobby or activity you enjoy. The break is half the battle, but what you do with those 10 minutes determines if you return to work more energized or empty.

We get all wrapped up in finishing work fast so we can go home; we forget about getting the job done right. Take those 10 minutes, clear the cobwebs out and get the job done.

See, who would've thought that Conan, would end up being the inspiration for positivity that we all need. Thanks, Governator!

I get the daily newsletter, so don't be shocked if I pass some of Arnold's positivity and encouragement on to you from time-to-time.
