What's the University of Wyoming Housing Project?

The closure of 15th Street is yet another stepping stonseeks toe on the path of completing the University of Wyoming's Housing Project. The project will see a new residential hall developed on campus for first-year students in an effort to "[connect] first-year students to the benefits of campus life" and "create an active and vibrant student life neighborhood," according to the UW Housing Project website. The new hall will feature 950 beds of housing, a new dining facility, 5 acres of new landscaping, and improvements to the campus mobility systems.

The University's plan pegs the project's projected completion date in Spring of 2025.

Will There Be Future Road Closures For the Project?

The University cites the following anticipated closures and impacts related to the construction of the new housing:

  • Intermittent lane or road closures on 15th Street between Lewis Street and Ivinson Avenue.
  • No private parking in the Half Acre parking lot.
  • Transit stops at the Union until the completion of a new roundabout.
