The American Legion World Series kicked off on Thursday in Shelby, North Carolina and after a 90-minute rain delay, Cheyenne Post took the field against League City, Texas in the opening game.

League City scored twice in the first inning, once one more in the 3rd and another in the 5th to win this game 4-0. Cheyenne had a tough time at the plate as League City pitcher Jacob Cyr threw a no-hitter, going 7 innings, striking out 8, and walking one. He threw 97 pitches in the contest.

Sixer hurler Colter McAnelly went 4 and 2 thirds giving up 2 earned runs, 3 hits, and striking out 9. This was the first appearance ever by a Wyoming team in the American Legion World Series and each team plays 3 times in pool play with the top 2 in each pool advancing to the sem-finals on Monday with the National Championship held on Tuesday.

Cheyenne Post 6 will play Ellsworth, Maine on Friday at 2 pm MDT and then take on defending national champion Troy, Alabama on Saturday at 5:30 MDT

AA Northwest Regional Tournament Championship Game 2023

The Cheyenne Sixers took on the Gillette Riders in the 2023 AA Northwest Regional American Legion Baseball Tournament Championship game. Cheyenne won 7-4.
