Garet Schlabs from Cheyenne East will be taking his immense athletic talents over the border to Nebraska to compete in football at Chadron State. In the 2022 season. Schlabs was an all-state performer at the wide receiver spot as he caught a whopping 80 balls for 1018 with 16 touchdowns. Schlabs had an astounding 19 catches for 209 yards and 3 touchdowns vs. Sheridan during the regular season and 10 grabs for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns vs. Laramie. He caught 11 passes for 79 yards and a touchdown in their 4A championship game loss to Sheridan. Schlabs was also an all-state pick on defense with 4 interceptions from the cornerback position.

In his junior season, Schlabs was very effective on offense with 71 catches for 972 yards and 17 touchdowns. That included a 239-yard game against Campbell County and a 197-yard performance against Thunder Basin. Schlabs was named to the 4A al-state team as a wide receiver in 2021.

He also had made a mark in basketball as he is averaging 11 points a game for the Thunderbirds this season with a team-high 93 assists. Schlabs made the all-state list in 4A basketball last season averaging 9 points per contest.

Chadron State is a Division II school that competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
