What a colorful sight.

But I think maybe the bear printer has run out of toner.

These bears in Teton Village, Wyoming, are not wearing the same coat.

Maybe they are making a fashion statement.

"A family of Brown Bears. A blonde, a black, and a brown. All three are black bears…Black bears come in an array of colors, not just brown.

This was in Grand Teton National Park." (Viral Hog).

They are all considered black bears, despite their coats.

So why the difference? It's actually a normal thing that is seen often.

In western states that have mountain meadows and open park-like forests, over half the black bears (Ursus americanus cinnamomum) are brown, cinnamon, or blond. Light colored fur reduces heat stress in open sunlight and allows the bears to feed longer in open, food-rich habitats.

The lighter colored fur may also camouflage them from predators in those open areas.

Ice Age predators undoubtedly used to kill black bears in open areas where the bears couldn’t escape up trees.

Grizzly bears still do that in some areas today. (North American Bear Center).

Should we read anything into the fact that there were 3 Bears?

Daddy is the big brown one.

Mama is the light one.

Small baby bear is bringing up the rear in a black coat.

Their porridge should be cool by now.

Wait until they see that some little girl broke into their house while they were gone. Typical Wyoming tourist, that girl is.

It's sights like these that make coming to Wyoming worth it.
