2024 General Election: Early Voting Soars In Laramie County
As of Thursday evening, half of Laramie County's registered voters had cast ballots early for the 2024 General Election.
That's according to Laramie County Clerk Debra Lee. And with long lines waiting to vote early again on Friday, it seems safe to say that a majority of the county's registered voters will have cast their ballots early when all is said and done.
The release includes the following: Lee said figures released at the close of voting on Oct. 30 show 14,373 voters have voted early in person and another 5156 have returned their absentee mail ballots since the Oct. 8 start of Wyoming’s early-absentee voting period. Laramie County has seen a record number of early voters in this year’s election.
“We continue to receive requests for absentee ballots, although it will be difficult for those requesting a ballot this late to receive them in time to mark them and get them back by the legal deadline. We strongly recommend voters return absentee mail ballots directly to our office or use the county’s ballot drop box to ensure we receive them in time to be counted,” Lee said. Laramie County’s 24/7 ballot drop box is located next to the Laramie County Governmental Complex, on Carey Avenue between 19th and 20th St. Voters have until 7 p.m. onNov. 5 to return their ballots to the Clerk’s office for counting.''
Similar Trends Are Being Seen Across Wyoming
The trend is not limited to Laramie County either. Wyoming Secretary Of State Chuck Gray's office on Friday said over 100,000 of the state's registered voters had already cast their ballots either in person or by absentee ballot. That is almost 40 percent of the state's registered voters.
For local voters who don't plan on casting ballots early, Laramie County has several voting centers which will be open on election day:
