Albany County Sheriff Warns About Fake Rental Scam

The Albany County Sheriff's Office has been getting reports about someone scamming people out of money in a rental property scam.

That's according to a post on the agency's Facebook page.

According to the post, someone is posing as a rental agent and asking for electronic payment for property that either doesn't exist or that they have no legal claim to. Similar scams have been reported across the country over the past year or so.

It's A Good Idea To Actually Visit Property Before Renting

The sheriff's office advises people to physically visit any property they are considering renting and to meet in person with potential landlords.
