Under Wyoming law, voters can decide to approve an optional 6th penny county wide sales tax on every dollar for special projects. It's important to note that the tax can only be used for capital projects and not operating costs for government agency.
Each of the state's 23 counties propose their own list of projects every few years.
Of note, Albany County is now using vote centers instead of traditional precincts. According to the clerk's office:
"For 2026 and future elections, Albany County will be using vote centers instead of traditional precinct based polling places. Vote centers allow voters to cast a ballot at any open voting location within the county, regardless of where they live. This provides greater flexibility and convenience, especially for voters with work, family, or travel commitments."
Neighboring Laramie County has used the vote centers for several years. while most of Wyoming has adhered to traditional polling places.
