Cheyenne Man Charged With Trying to Steal Pickup
A 55-year-old Cheyenne man is facing multiple felony charges following a high-risk traffic stop in south central Cheyenne.
According to a booking sheet, police were called to 524 Snyder Ave. at 11:12 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5 in reference to a male, later identified as Wayne Edgar Rosson, who was attempting to steal a red Ford F-150.
Upon arrival, police observed Rosson in the passenger seat of the pickup and initiated a high-risk traffic stop.
Rosson reportedly told police that he was instructed by an "Anthony Hernandez" to enter the pickup and remove the ignition. Rosson believed Hernandez purchased the pickup and was trying to retrieve it.
Police say they were unable to contact "Hernandez" and all the contacts Rosson said would confirm his story either didn't answer or refuted his claims.
When police searched Rosson's belongings they found burglary tools, eight fentanyl pills, and a pipe with suspected marijuana residue.
Rosson was arrested and subsequently charged with burglary, possession of burglar's tools, and theft, all felonies, as well as misdemeanor possession of fentanyl.
He made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Friday, Oct. 6, during which his bond was set at $5,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Oct. 13 at 9 a.m.
