"The SRO (school resource officer) at East was already on scene, and was the first to respond," Farkas told KGAB Radio. "He then called for additional officers to assist."

No Ongoing Threat

Farkas says officers detained the student with the knife, a teenage boy, and don't believe there to be an ongoing threat.

She says no injuries have been reported.

10:28 A.M. UPDATE:

Farkas says officers have cleared out, and the student was taken to the Laramie County Juvenile Services Center on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and interference with a peace officer.

Meet the Four-Legged Heroes of the Cheyenne Police Department

They may not be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but make no bones about it, police dogs play a vital role in the fight against crime.

In many situations, they're the first ones to put their lives on the line to protect their human partners, proving that not all heroes wear capes, some wear fur coats.
