An inmate at the Laramie County Detention Center is facing a felony charge after reportedly assaulting a jailer.

According to a booking sheet, Cpl. Cruz was attempting to remove a ring from inmate Allen James Fenstermacher's finger on Monday, Nov. 18, when the 41-year-old Cheyenne man intentionally and knowingly injured Cruz by scratching multiple cuts into Cruz's arm.

Fenstermacher Charged With Felony Interference

Fenstermacher was subsequently charged with interference with a peace officer - bodily injury, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Bond Set at $5K Cash

Fenstermacher made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Thursday, Nov. 21, during which his bond was set at $5,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Monday, Dec. 2 at 10:30 a.m.
