Cheyenne Man Busted for Cocaine, DUI Following Hit-&-Runs, Crash

A 39-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a handful of charges after reportedly hitting two vehicles with his Jeep before crashing it.

According to a booking sheet, police were called to the intersection of East 10th Street and Logan Avenue at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, for a reported traffic accident.

Police contacted Jonathon Dean Alvarado, who was the driver of a yellow Jeep.

Police say Alvarado was unable to stand without swaying, had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and a white powdery substance in his mustache, and admitted that he'd been drinking.

Police say Alvarado was unable to perform standardized field sobriety tests and told them to just arrest him, which they did.

Police say while they were speaking with Alvarado, who was found to have 11.8 grams of suspected cocaine on him, dispatch advised that the yellow Jeep he'd been driving had been involved in two prior hit-and-run accidents.

Alvarado was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for a blood draw and jail clearance, and booked into the Laramie County Detention Center for driving under the influence, two counts of duty upon colliding with unattended vehicle or property, felony possession of cocaine, and turning left at intersection.

As of 12:20 p.m. Friday, he had yet to be formally charged.
