An apparent weather balloon above Cheyenne on Thursday night drew a lot of comments on Facebook.
Cheyenne National Weather Service Comment On Balloon
The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service posted the following:
Hey. Everyone seeing a High Altitude Balloon out there today? If you want to learn more information, our friends at NWS Albuquerque office put out a post regarding one in their area yesterday.
After a bit of digging, it looks like it might have been launched by World View Enterprises. Similar to the one launched in July 20th, 2022.
But in fact all we saw on the Albuqurque site was a map of the ballon's course in New Mexico.
Be that as it may, the balloon drew a lot of comment on local Facebook pages.
Here are a few of the comments, some of which were presumbly tongue-in cheek:
Trenda Allen
It's a keyhole to another dimension.
James Rogers
Reminds me of a weather balloon that escaped from CSU in Ft. Collins, back in the 1960's. It was so bright, and for about half an hour we had no idea what it was, just this bright dot in the sky.
Kyle Randall
They’ve been trying to reach you about your cars extended warrant
Joyce L. Graham
It’s the ship that landed in a field by Veedavoo it’s our interstellar friends visiting us.
Generally the comments were of the ''What is that?' variety. Many commenters correctly identified it as a balloon, with some speculating that it might be a Chinese spy baloon.
Did you see the balloon? What did you make of it?
