According to a fatality crash summary, a Ford Expedition was southbound on the bridge near the mine overlook when the driver crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an oncoming Honda motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, 53-year-old Steven Lucore, was not wearing a helmet and died from his injuries.

The driver of the SUV was also reportedly injured in the crash, but the patrol did not say to what extent.

The summary lists driver inattention as a possible contributing factor.
