UPDATE: Interstates 80 and 25 in Wyoming are now open, albeit with slick conditions and snowfall in many areas.

Original post: Most of Interstate 25 and a  large stretch of the westbound lane of Interstate 80 westbound  in Wyoming were closed as of 6 a.m by a winter storm that has hit the state.

That's according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation road and travel website.

Virtually All Of I-25 In Wyoming Closed As Of 6 a.m.

According to WYDOT, the entire length of I-25 in Wyoming is closed except for the short stretch of highway between Cheyenne and the Colorado state line, which is slick with snowfall. As of 5 a.m. the estimated opening time was five to seven hours.

Meanwhile, Interstate 80 westbound was closed between Rock Springs and Cheyennd. The road and travel website said the estimated opening time was unknown.

It was the most destructive tornado to hit Wyoming in all of recorded history.
