Laramie County added 834 (1.8% increase) jobs and $40.2 million [5.6 percent increase] to the total payroll in the first quarter of 2025 compared to  the first quarter of 2024 numbers.

Construction was the big driver of Laramie County's job growth. Local government, state government, transportation, warehousing and mining all saw job increases in Laramie County, while retail trade, private educational services, information and federal government all saw job losses.

It may be worth noting that statewide jobs increased by 717. So apparently the state aside from Laramie County had a net loss of jobs. Campbell County lost 453 jobs and Sweetwater County another 326 jobs over the period.

Albany, Natrona Counties Also Added Jobs

Albany County also got good news in the report, gaining 99 jobs and payroll growth of $10.3 million. Economic sectors that gained jobs in Albany County in the first quarter of the year included construction, state government, local government, retail trade and information.

Natrona County added 361 jobs in the first quarter 361 jobs and it's total payroll rose by $12.3 million. Job gains in Natrona County were seen in transportation & warehousing, manufacturing, health care & social assistance, and leisure & hospitality. Employment fell in construction, local government, financial activities, and professional & business services.

The report goes on to say "from first quarter 2024 to first quarter 2025, total employment in the state grew by 717 jobs (0.3%) and total payroll increased by $140.7 million (3.4%). Employment rose in 11 counties and fell in 12 counties. Total payroll increased in 20 counties and decreased in three counties."
