Laramie DDA To Host Meetings On New Downtown Development Plan
The Laramie Downtown Development Authority will be hosting a series of meetings in late March about what residents would like to see in a new Downtown Development Plan.
So What Will The New Plan Do?
So what is involved in a new Downtown Development Plan? According to a City of Laramie website:
'The Laramie Downtown Plan will focus on how Downtown can grow and function, with goals and strategies related to buildings, streets, public spaces, transportation, housing, economic development, and infrastructure. Community input is the cornerstone of the planning process, with many opportunities for residents, business owners, students, and visitors to share ideas and help shape the plan. The final plan will include a clear vision with a practical action plan that outlines priorities, timelines, and responsibilities. Together, these tools will help Downtown partners work collaboratively to invest in Downtown and ensure it remains a vibrant, welcoming, and resilient heart of Laramie for years to come.;
The last Laramie Downtown Development PLAN was issued in 2011, so the idea is to update that plan with a blueprint for the next two decades or so. Components of the plan include building on the historic character of downtown Laramie as well as incorporating local businesses that call the downtown area home. The plan also aims to include elements of the arts and culture of downtown Laramie and emphasize it's importance as a gathering place for local residents.
Meeting details have not yet been announced, but those should be released in the not-too-distant future.
