Memorial Honoring Cheyenne Shooting Victim to Be Taken Down
The memorial in front of Frontier Mall honoring Angelina Harrison, the 16-year-old Cheyenne girl who was fatally shot while riding in a vehicle near the mall on Jan. 9, 2023, will not stand for much longer.
Angelina's mother, Amanda Harrison, in a Facebook post Monday afternoon shared the news that, despite efforts to preserve the memorial, including a petition that garnered more than 2,500 signatures, it will need to be removed by month's end.
"We have once again considered your request to allow the memorial to remain in place, but Frontier Mall is private property and unfortunately, we are simply unable to accommodate it for the reasons we've already provided," General Manager Shirlee Jacobsen told Amanda in an email Monday morning.
"If you'd like to keep any items from the memorial, please retrieve them before September 30th," Jacobsen added.
While it's obviously not the response Amanda and her family had hoped for, especially on the day when Angelina's killer was sentenced, she says they're looking into other options for a memorial.
"Thank you all for your support," she said. "We tried our best."
