JoAnn Fabrics stores in Cheyenne and Rock Springs are among hundreds of stores the chain has announced as being scheduled to close. In addition to fabrics, the store nationally has been an iconic outlet for craft items since the 1960s.

As Townsquare Media has reported, the retail chain has announced the closure of hundreds of stores across the country. The Street is reporting that the closures follow the retailer filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March of last year.

The company cited declining sales as the reason for the bankruptcy

While the retailer is not closing all of it's stores, the chain's outlets in Cheyenne and Rock Springs are included on a list of outlets slated for closure. The company has so far not announced a timeline for the closures.

The chain at one time had another outlet in Gillette, but a Facebook page for that store lists it as "permanently closed." The closure of the Cheyenne and Rock Springs stores will apparently mean JoAnn no longer operates in Wyoming.

Some Colorado JoAnn Stores Also Closing

Several stores are also slated for closure in Colorado, including two in Aurora. But the Fort Collins JoAnn is not listed as scheduled to close.

The Frontier Mall listing for JoAnn says the retailer "is the nation's largest specialty retailer for fabrics and crafts." When it declared bankruptcy in 2024 the store had over 800 outlets across the country.

The national list of closures this week includes about 500 stores.
