The Wyoming Legislature will convene a roughly two-month General Session on January 14 in Cheyenne..

The deadline for filing bills in the Wyoming Senate is January 29 and in the House its February 3. But a number of high profile bills have already been filed.

Numerous High Profile Bills Have Already Been Filed

They include the following:

-House Bill 57. Would ban local governments from banning fireworks between noon and midnight on July 4. Local governments could still ban the use of fireworks as part of a ban on open fires due to fire concerns. Sponsored by Rep. Steve Harshman [R-Natrona County].

-House Bill 32. Known as the "What is A Woman Act,' this bill would ban transgender people born as males from women's restrooms, locker rooms and similar facilities. The same bill was filed last year, and received a 37-24 majority vote for introduction, falling short of the 2/3 majority threshold needed for a non-budget bill in a budget session. But since 2025 is a General Session, such bills can be introduced with a simple majority vote. Sponsored by Rep. Jayme Lien [R-Natrona County].

-House Bill 19. Would require parental consent for minors under the age of 18 to use any social media platform. Sponsored by Rep, Harshman.

-House Bill 64. Would require any woman getting a chemical abortion to be shown an ultrasound image of the fetus prior to the procedure. Sponsored by House Speaker Chip Neiman [R-Crook, Weston counties].

-Senate File 21. Would ban cell phones in school. Sponsored by Sen Wendy Schuler [R-Uinta County].

-Senate File 44. Would ban people born as males from competing in intercollegiate sports. Sponsored by Sen. Schuler

-Senate File 58. Would exempt firearms and ammunition from sales taxes. Sponsored by Sen. Jared Olsen [R-Laramie County].

-Senate Joint Resolution 1. Calls for a Convention of the States under Article V of the U.S. Constitution. The convention would consider constitutional amendments on federal term limits and a requirement for a balanced federal budget. Sponsored by Senator Eric Barlow [R-Campbell County].
