Listen to Panic! At the Disco’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Cover for ‘Suicide Squad’
Suicide Squad arrives in theaters this weekend — alongside a soundtrack that includes Panic! At the Disco's cover of the Queen classic "Bohemian Rhapsody."
As previously reported, the original version of the song was a big part of Suicide Squad's promotional campaign. The recording was featured in a trailer for the movie, used to underscore an early glimpse of the onscreen mayhem while hinting at a higher fun quotient than Warner Bros.' most recent DC Comics adaptations.
The latest entry in the DC Extended Universe series of films, Suicide Squad brings together a diverse cast (including Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis and Jai Courtney) to tell the story of a high-level government program that unites a group of supervillains against their will in order to combat an even greater threat. Arriving on the heels of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice earlier this year, Squad serves as a bridge to next year's Wonder Woman and Justice League features.
Panic! At the Disco's "Bohemian Rhapsody" cover, which you can listen to above, helps round out a soundtrack heavy with largely unreleased pop and hip-hop tracks, some of which boast unexpected collaborations — as well as songs by War ("Slippin' Into Darkness"), Creedence Clearwater Revival ("Fortunate Son") and a cover of the Bee Gees' "I Started a Joke," performed by ConfidentialMX.
For Queen fans, it's tough to top the beloved original version — which is not only an evergreen hit that's been used by countless shows and films, but an outstanding musical and technical achievement.
