The first week of June is in the books, but Mother Nature is about to remind Wyoming that summer hasn't arrived just yet.

Snow is expected in the mountains of western Wyoming, including Yellowstone National Park, Friday night into Saturday. In addition, Sunday morning will likely bring low temperatures below freezing to some areas in the west.

In a winter weather briefing posted Friday evening, the National Weather Service in Riverton predicted three to seven inches of snow accumulation at the highest elevations, while other impacted areas will largely see two to four inches of snow.

Areas near Yellowstone Lake are expected to see two to three inches of snow. A bit of accumulation is not uncommon this time of year, according to the NWS.

The Bighorn Mountains are expected to see roughly two to four inches of snow as well. Lower elevations in the area may see a few flakes, but most Wyoming residents likely will not see any snow.

Snow levels are expected to lower to 6,500 feet at times through Saturday. It is not expected to stick to road surfaces in most areas, but Beartooth Pass could be the exception with a possibility of slick roads.
