Original ‘Ghostbusters’ Will Return to Theaters This Summer
Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot won’t be the only Ghostbusters movie hitting theaters this summer. If you’re itching to revisit Ivan Reitman’s 1984 comedy classic, then you might want to wait until June, when the original Ghostbusters returns to the big screen. The special re-release honors both the 32nd anniversary (sure, why not) of the film, as well as the release of Feig’s reboot, starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.
Fathom Events will re-release Ghostbusters in over 750 theaters nationwide on June 8 and June 12. Advance tickets will be available starting May 6 at Fathom’s website and participating theaters. But that’s not all: In addition to experiencing the joy of watching one of the best comedies of all time on the big screen, attendees will be treated to a special sneak peek from Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot, which hits theaters in July 15.
For those who live in New York (or plan to visit soon), BBQ Films is also planning a special event for the re-release. From June 8 through the 10th, you can attend an interactive experience at Villain in Brooklyn, where fans can explore Ghostbusters HQ, receive official training, use a proton pack and other ghost-busting gear, consume Ecto-beverages and buy all sorts of cool official merchandise. And yes, there will be ghosts, as well as screenings of the 1984 film, of course.
